Koh Phangan kiteboarding school

Ko Pha Ngan (or Koh Phangan, Thai writing: เกาะพะงัน) is one of our latest Kiteboardingasia locations. All our team is pleased to present to you this incomparable destination.
Koh Pha Ngan Kite center has one of the easiest and safest learning spots you can find in all of our Kiteboardingasia locations.
Koh Pha Ngan is an island in the South East Gulf of Thailand. The island has two sisters: the larger Koh Samui (Shopping spot) to the south and the smaller Koh Tao (Diving spot) to the north.
Koh Pha Ngan is famous for the « Full moon party ». This world famous beach party happens every full moon and brings to the island thousands of travelers.
The island also has some of the nicest beaches you can find in Thailand (and one of the most chilled places for travelers to enjoy). Koh Pha Ngan also has a large amount of local artists, music and spiritual places such as Yoga/meditation.
So have a look around and see how easily you can get absorbed by its charm and spirit. Koh Pha Ngan is unique and has a special feeling you will find nowhere else in Thailand.

MOUNTAINBOARDING or KITESKATING also known as Dirtboarding, Offroad Boarding, Grass Boarding, All-Terrain Boarding (ATB) and Kite ground boarding (KGB) is a well established if little-known extreme sport, derived from snowboarding. A mountainboard is made up of components including a deck, bindings to secure the rider to the deck, four wheels with pneumatic tires, and two steering mechanisms known as trucks.
courses are now available from April to September at your Koh Pha Ngan Kite center.
From April to August, the gulf of Thailand gets very low tides. The beach then transforms into a radical playground for kite sports the size of 10 football stadiums every morning. So feel welcome to come and get some experience in this sport so similar to KITEBOARDING, here in the first KITESKATING school in Thailand. Learn and see how KITEBOARDING can become easy!

You'll find us located on the West coast at Ao Hin Kong/Woktum.
Courses, private lessons and discovery days will be offered every morning. Feel free to book your course from our spot or our shop on Baan Tai main road, or through our website.

Spots:
We use 3 main locations on the island, Chaloklum (North-east wind, October to January). Bantai (South-east wind, January to April) and Woktum, Bantai again(Westerly wind, May to September).
We adapt all year depending on the wind direction, to kite and teach in the safest spot on the island. Contact us to know where we are, we're moving a lot!
Chaloklum is located on the central north coast of the island. The bay faces north east and works best in this wind direction. Lessons on this beach are usually run from the northern half of the bay – shallow water lagoon protected from the ocean swell by a reef that runs paralell to the coast 100m out. The entries into the lagoon are on the northern end of the reef and also the southern end, though many fishing boats can be around the southern side and the peir. It is a very quiet fishermen village where you will find a very genuine atmosphere. There are several family-run groceries, restaurants, a couple of diving schools and even a '7-Eleven' (or 'seven' in thai) 24hr. supermarket.
A local fishing community lives and works around this large bay and it is a great place to buy or eat fresh seafood. Squid can be seen drying on nets in the sun. When the weather is fine with some 80-100 boats mooring in the bay. This place is a good start point to explore the northern part of the island.

Bantai beach is one long beach that covers 50% of the southern coast of the island. This beach faces directly towards Koh Samui and can often benefit from a local venturi effect which can accelerate the wind along the coast of koh Phangan. There is a reef (above the water at extremely low tides) around 200m from the beach, running the full length of the island. Some breaks in the reef made for fishing boats can provide some small waves to play with, with flat water and easy depth to practice and develop your skills inside the lagoon. It is also fishing village. On the opposite side of the beach, mountains of coconuts are prepared for processing. You can see how people from the village peel and dry the coconuts for export.
Next to the coconut place is a trail up to WAT KOW THAM, the meditation place on top of Kow Haeng Hill, where people from all over the world come to do the 10 days Meditation Retreat every month. With shady, serene atmosphere, the place is ideal for serenity searchers. From here, you can get a sight of the island's mountainous scenery.
Wat Nai, the 400 years old stupas, located in Ban Nua (near Ban Tai Village) about 4 km from Thongsala Town on the road to Haad Rin. This old structure was built in Srivichaiya Architecture (9-13th century).
From Wat Nai, a small dirt road will lead you to join the road to Thong Nai Pan Beach. At the transaction stands PHANGAN BIGGEST TREE , a giant Rubber Tree with 14 meters around.

Woktum/Hin Kong is on the south west coast of the island. This bay can give some amazing contitions in south west, west and north west wind. The bay stretches north-south for around 2 km  with flat water on the inside of the reef and some swell outside (small but good fun!). Few hazards here and even in onshore conditions if riding inside the reef there is still 400m downwind before getting to the edge of the beach.
Wind range is between 8 knots to 25 knots. The water is blue and always warm! So leave your wetsuits at home. Temperature goes from 25°C to 35°c in the lagoons.
Please be aware Koh Pha Ngan, surrounded by lagoons, has very low tide during April, May, June July, August. Kiteboarding is then convenient at middle tide to High tide. When finding a Kiteboarding spot is difficult, we offer mountain boarding and buggy courses.
Not far from there Srithanu. It is located in the north-west side of Koh Phangan. A fishermen village with a few supermarkets, restaurants, internet shops and a pharmarcy. Nearby is Leam Son Lake, the island's only sweet water lake.

Take a train from Bangkok Central Station to Surat Thani. You can buy a joint ticket (inc. transfer to the boat in Donsak und the fare for the boat) directly to Koh Phangan. The trains all have funny names like 'sprinter' or 'express' ... but I would have named them something like 'snail'. Try to get one where you can sleep over night, don't take air con, it sometimes really cold, and you have to keep the windows closed.

by bus
Buy a bus ticket from one of the travel agents around Kao San road in Bangkok to Koh Phangan, they offer also joint tickets together with the boat fare.
